As the course of our popular cultural activities steered towards the possibilities of the modern media-complex, the cross-cultural and inter-disciplinary figure Andy Warhol found a poignant etiquette for contemporary mainstream urges and interests. Looking back at this crystallisation point via the ambivalent source of his diaries, the further development of new media seems not to have changed the core of the actual content.
“Streaming Andy” takes the stretch of time from March 24th to April 5th 1979. The entries of the diariy are being presented acoustically by a first-time recipient of the material from a later generation and not native to the original language. Somehow the content seems familiar although names and places have faded. The listening is intersected with a visual commentary. Together it joins into a loop of just under 15 minutes, reflecting upon the dynamics of participation – the essence of pop.
