Eine Erkundung
von gemeinschaftlichem Arbeiten und Denken

Alles Da-Sein bezieht sich aufeinander. Jedes einzelne Mensch-Sein entfaltet sich aus einer mikrobiologischen Kommune, aus einer existentiellen Gemeinschaftlichkeit. Ich esse auch, was ich selbst nicht verdauen kann, weil es Bakterien in meinem Darm ernährt. Das Kollektiv in mir baut Nährstoffe und trainiert meinen diplomatischen Dienst. Wir sind jeweils ein partnerschaftlicher Lebensraum.

BEDINGUNGEN

Gleichzeitig ist der menschliche Raum geprägt von Vereinzelung. Das Herauslösen, Festlegen und Begrenzen ist die bestimmende Kulturtechnik. Wir schauen auf Alleinstellungsmerkmale. Aufwertung und Abwertung sind eingeübte Bewegungsmuster. Wir sind konfrontiert mit den Auswirkungen von Vereinzelung – körperlich, psychologisch, sozial, ökologisch, ökonomisch.

In diesem Spannungsfeld haben wir uns für eine kooperative künstlerische Arbeitsform entschieden. Seit einigen Jahren ertasten wir gemeinsam Fragestellungen. Dabei machen wir umfangreiche Erfahrungen mit den Herausforderungen von gemeinschaftlichem Handeln. Wir erleben Beflügelung und Ansporn ebenso wie Verlangsamung und Frustration. Wir genießen Verbundenheit und bestaunen Hindernisse. Wir üben die Wahrnehmung in Zusammenhängen, erspüren die Auswirkungen und erproben künstlerische Wege der Sichtbarmachung.

HABITAT

Im Projekt NÄHRBODEN benutzen wir die mikrobiologische Dimension von Gemeinschaft als Anker und Metapher. Wir verwenden den Ausstellungsraum als Petrischale und setzen ein Nährmedium an aus verschiedenen Partikeln. Wir befüllen den Raum mit konkreten Materialien, dann schließt sich der Deckel der Schale. Dieser ist nicht hermetisch, für einen optimalen Gasaustausch im Kulturmedium nutzen wir das Gespräch als ideelles Material. Dazu begründen wir den Audio-Kanal TOGETHERradio für temporäre Übertragungen in Echtzeit. Wir spinnen das Gespräch zu zweit, zu dritt, zu wie vielen wird sich zeigen.

PARTIKEL

Über den Zeitraum von fünf Wochen beobachten wir Prozesse des Wucherns: mit uns, um uns und über uns hinaus. Vom 8. Oktober – 8. November 2020 setzen wir wöchentlich einen bestimmten Fokusbereich, diesen tragen wir dann in verschiedenste Zusammenhänge und Realitäten – Wirtschaftswissenschaftlerin mit Paartherapeuten mit Bäckerin mit Politiker mit Kuratorin mit Permakulturist auf einem Gesprächsboden.

GRENZE

Wenn die Menge meiner körperlichen Zellen gleich groß ist, wie die Menge der in und mit mir lebenden Organismen, was heißt das eigentlich für mein Selbstverständnis? Und für das Verständnis über mich hinaus? Wie weit erstreckt sich mein Boden und welche Nahrung ist im Angebot? Seltsamerweise befragt das Corona-Virus alle Partikel unserer Gesellschaft auch an dieser Stelle. Obwohl wir das Projekt ganz unabhängig und vor dem Kontakt mit diesem Thema entwickelt haben, so passen die neuen Aspekte und Fragen genau in unser Bild. Der Neue Kunstraum Düsseldorf ist als Anstifter der Nabel unseres Projektes. Daher sollte zunächst ein lokaler und regionaler Bezug der unmittelbare Nährboden sein. Durch die Ebene des Radios können und werden die beteiligten Partikel weitläufiger werden, dennoch bleibt das NKR im Salzmannbau in Bilk als Ort unser Basislager – konkret räumlich und ideell als Mutterboden.

NOURISHING GROUND
An exploration
of collective working and thinking

All elements of being relate to each other. Every human being unfolds from a microbiotic commune, from existential communality. I also feed myself with what I cannot digest, because it nourishes bacteria in my gut. This collective within me builds nutrients and trains my diplomatic service. Each and every one of us is a habitat based on partnership.

PREMISE

At the same time, the human sphere is subject to isolation. Detachment, designation and delimitation are dominant cultural techniques. We focus on unique and single characteristics. Upvaluing and downvaluing are practised patterns of movement. We are confronted with the effects of isolation – psychologically, socially, ecologically, economically.

Within this context, we have decided on a cooperative form of artistic work. For some years now we have jointly been exploring issues. In the process we have gained rich experience with the challenges of shared action. We have witnessed inspiration and motivation as well as slowdown and frustration. We enjoy connectedness and we marvel at obstacles.We practice the act of perception in integrative ways, we sense the resulting effects and we attempt artistic paths for rendering visibility.

HABITAT

In the project NOURISHING GROUND we employ the microbiological level of community as both an anchor and a metaphor. We use the exhibition space as a Petri dish and prepare a breeding ground from different particles. We fill the space with tangible materials, and then the lid of the dish is closed. There is no hermetic seal: for an optimal exchange of gases within the culture medium, we aim to use conversations as non-material components. To this end we establish the audio-channel TOGETHERradio for temporary, real-time transmissions. We weave conversational threads in twos, in threes, or in other numbers that will reveal themselves.

PARTICLE

Over the course of five weeks we observe processes of rampant growth: In ourselves, around us and beyond us. From October 8th to November 8th 2020 we will define weekly focuses. Then we transpose this chosen focal length into diverse contexts and realities – an economist with a couple therapist with a baker with a curator with a permaculturist on shared conversational ground.

BOUNDARY

If the amount of my own bodily cells is equal to the amount of organisms living in me and with me – how should I actually think of ‘myself’? And how does this affect all my further aspects of understanding? How far does my own fertile ground extend, and what kind of nourishment is on offer? Strangely enough, the Coronavirus too puts all particles of society to the test in this regard. Although we developed the project before this new topic appeared on the scene, the current aspects and questions fit right into the picture we are projecting. The Neue Kunstraum Düsseldorf is the instigator of this project, and hence it will also be the hub. To begin with, we see the local and regional resources as our direct fertile soil. Thanks to the medium of radio, the participating particles can propagate further afield, yet the NKR in the Salzmann Building in Bilk remains our base camp – as real material space and, seen immaterially, as our mother soil.
